Brown - Panucci deal difficult

Hull City manager Phil Brown believes the reason why the club failed in their bid to lure Roma defender Christian Panucci was due to financial issues.[LNB] The Tigers boss has revealed he did not want to jeopardise the club's stability just to bring in a quick short-term fix.[LNB]Brown also blamed the fact that there were too many agents involved in the deal, therefore increasing the amount of money needed in order to bring the Italian in.[LNB]The 35-year-old, who can play at full-back or centre-half, arrived in Hull on Sunday and agreed personal terms and passed a medical but both clubs could not agree on a fee.[LNB]"It was difficult because in the end it was about finances so it would have been done for the wrong reasons," Brown told the Hull Daily Mail.[LNB]"We were ready to push the boat out to make the deal happen, but as far as we were concerned there were too many agents involved feeding for the scraps."[LNB]Despite missing out on the former Chelsea man, Brown was still pleased with the signings he brought in earlier in the month.[LNB]The Tigers splashed out £8million on the likes of Jimmy Bullard, Kevin Kilbane, Kamil Zayatte and the loan signing of Manucho in a bid to stay in the top flight.[LNB]"People expect a flourish of new signings on a transfer deadline day, but we were happy doing our business in the early part of the month," he added.[LNB]"Whether that is sufficient, only time will tell, but I'm very confident that we've got a squad capable of staying in the Premier League."[LNB]
