Brown open to managerial offers
Former Hull manager Phil Brown would consider taking a job in the bottom tier of the Football League to revive his managerial career.[LNB] Brown has been out of work since March when he was relieved of his duties at the Tigers and placed on gardening leave with the club languishing in the relegation zone at the bottom of the Premier League.[LNB]The Yorkshire club failed to avoid the drop under Brown's replacement Iain Dowie and as they prepare for life in the Championship this week formally ended the tenure of Brown after agreeing a "amicable departure".[LNB]That has left the 51-year-old free to look for a new job and, while admitting he would like to return to the Premier League, said he would listen to offers from all four divisions in the Football League.[LNB]"I want an opportunity really. I'd like to get another football club whether it is in the second division through to the Premier League," Brown told Radio Five Live.[LNB]"I do hope to get back in the Premier League.[LNB]"When you look at Premier League clubs at the moment West Ham have come and gone now, Avram Grant has a great chance there.[LNB]"The Liverpools are beyond me because of the stature of the club.[LNB]"It would be nice to get hold of a Championship club again and emulate what we did at Hull. I think maybe that is my plan of attack, but I'm not ruling out the first and second division.[LNB]"There are some great clubs down there and I'm willing to interview for most jobs."[LNB]Brown was dismissed by Hull chairman Adam Pearson in the wake of a 1-0 home defeat to Arsenal, when an error from Boaz Myhill allowed Nicklas Bendtner to score a injury-time winner.[LNB]Brown said he had not expected to get the chop after that game while adding Myhill's error had "cost me very, very heavily".[LNB]"When Adam Pearson came into the office on that dreaded Monday morning and said 'It's not good news Phil' obviously my stomach sank," he went on.[LNB]"We had a difficult game against Arsenal, but unfortunately Boaz Myhill made a mistake in the 94th minute and that seems to have cost me very, very heavily.[LNB]"With regards to getting the sack I didn't see it coming.[LNB]"The owner asked me to come in to plan a strategy to survive in the Premier League. I had six or seven bullet points I was going to say but unfortunately I never got to say them."[LNB]Brown had also been disappointed with comments made by veteran midfielder George Boateng in the wake of his departure.[LNB]Boateng claimed Brown had lost the changing room and pinpointed his famous half-time on-field rant at Manchester City on Boxing Day in 2008 as the moment the players turned against their former boss.[LNB]"He (Boateng) came out with a tirade of abuse after I left," Brown added.[LNB]"I was disappointed by that because the amount of one to ones I had with George and the amount of times I had to pick him off the floor.[LNB]"I know he always had that great smile and always played the game with his heart on his sleeve, but I was disappointed.[LNB]"He's talking about a team-talk that happened 18 months ago. He said I lost the changing room.[LNB]"But we survived that season and then almost survived a second season."
