Brown - Impact was too late

Hull City manager Phil Brown admitted that it was too little, too late after his side lost 2-1 at home to Blackburn on Sunday. It was the Tigers' second home defeat in a week and a result that leaves Hull in 13th place in the Premier League but just three points from the bottom three. Brown hasn't seen his side win in the league since December and this game was all but over after a crazy spell of four first-half minutes. Blackburn's Stephen Warnock opened the scoring then soon after set up Keith Andrews to all-but seal the game. Hull City midfielder Dean Marney was dismissed after 64 minutes but Rovers winger Morten Gamst Pedersen joined him just seven minutes later before Ian Ashbee gave the hosts hope 11 minutes from time, but it was not to be. "It was one of those games," Brown told Sky Sports. "We came into it buoyed by the fact that we beat Sheffield United and after 30 minutes of the game it was going well. "But we made a couple of mistakes and they were punished. It was all too little too late." Brown also had no complaints with the sending off of his midfielder and admitted that he was disappointed in the 25-year-old. "He's disappointed, I'm disappointed, it's uncharacteristic of him for lashing out," he added. "It just shows the kind of pressure the players are under." Brown also withdrew Geovanni just eight minutes into the second-half, a decision that did not go down too well with the player and the supporters but the Tigers boss stands by his judgement. "There is no one player bigger than the football club," he stated. "I'm here to make big decisions at 2-0 down. The substitutes had a positive effect on the game. "We are not dead and buried there is still a lot to play for."
