Hull manager Phil Brown is hopeful Brazilian star Geovanni will soon commit to a new contract.[LNB]Brown has been impressed with the performances of the 29-year-old despite Hull`s disappointing start to the season.[LNB]Geovanni joined Hull last season on a two-year deal and scored eight goals in the club`s first Barclays Premier League campaign.[LNB]Brown said: "The lad`s heart and soul are in the club at the moment and hopefully, fingers crossed, we are very close to him putting pen to paper."[LNB]Brown sees Geovanni as one of his chief attacking threats but accepts poor team displays such as in Saturday`s 1-0 loss to Birmingham do not allow him chance to shine.[LNB]He added: "Instead of us maintaining possession and getting the ball out to Geovanni so he can create for us, he has had to do a defensive role for us, which disappoints me - but that is purely and simply down to giving the ball away."
