Brown hopeful on Turner
Hull City boss Phil Brown is hoping Michael Turner will still be at the club after transfer deadline day.
The highly-rated centre-half has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool this summer, although no approach from the Reds has been forthcoming.
Brown is understandably reluctant to part with Turner, the rock at the heart of his back four, and has made it clear that he will do all he can to keep the defender at the KC Stadium.
The fact that the 25-year-old only signed a new four-year contract in February works in his favour, and the Tigers boss is quietly confident regarding his chances of retaining Turner's services.
"Michael showed everybody on Saturday (against Chelsea) when he pulls on a Hull City shirt he wears it with pride," he said.
"That is probably the reason there is a lot of speculation with regards to Michael Turner.
"I was happy with his performance on Saturday and hopefully he will continue tomorrow (against Tottenham) and after the deadline comes and goes.
"Then I'll have him for another six months at least!"
While keen to keep Turner, Brown is also hoping to unleash new signing Jozy Altidore in the not too distant future.
The USA international, who has joined the Tigers on loan from Villarreal, has struggled to gain international clearance to join up with his new team-mates, but Hull are hopeful that issue will be resolved shortly.
"Between work permits, swine flu, international duty, biometric tests, psychometric tests - I've not even mentioned his passport yet - I don't think he's going to play any part tomorrow," said Brown.
"He is still in the States but we are fairly adamant he will be on a plane on Thursday to train on Friday.
"The lad's very frustrated - he's a bundle of energy but he can't play.
"Hopefully he'll take that frustration out on somebody in the near future."
