Brown hopeful of more signings

Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink could be joined at Hull by more new faces in the coming weeks, manager Phil Brown claims. Dutch striker Vennegoor of Hesselink has signed a two-year deal with the Tigers to become the club's eighth new arrival since the end of last season. The 30-year-old was a free agent after leaving Celtic at the end of last season and the deal was therefore not subject to the usual transfer window restrictions. Hull managed to recruit just Ibrahima Sonko from Stoke on deadline day earlier this week but Brown claims he was not concerned by the lack of activity. "We've got one or two in the pipeline that are available because they're out of contract for whatever reason," Brown told the club's website. "When the transfer deadline came on Tuesday, we always knew we had one or two irons in the fire after 5pm."
