Phil Brown has revealed that new signing Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink could be joined by a few more new faces in the coming weeks. The 30-year-old completed his free transfer move on Thursday, signing a two-year deal and Brown is eager to continue to build his squad. The Tigers boss has had a mixed time of it in the transfer market this summer having lost out on signing Michael Owen, Marc-Antoine Fortune, Fraizer Campbell, Bobby Zamora and Daryl Murphy. However Brown has managed to land the likes of Kamel Ghilas and Jozy Altidore, on a season long loan from Villarreal, to further bolster his forward line. "We've got one or two in the pipeline that are available because they're out of contract for whatever reason," Brown told the club's official website. "When the transfer deadline came on Tuesday, we always knew we had one or two irons in the fire after 5pm." Brown also highlighted that Vennegoor of Hesselink's strong desire to get back into the Holland squad ahead of the World Cup next summer would see him deliver in the Premier League. "Where Jan was concerned, there was a contract offer on the table at Celtic, but he felt as if he was better than that," he added. "He also has a massive point to prove with regards to the Dutch national team. He's 30-years-old and probably still in his prime in terms of his football career. "If you look at his goal scoring record, it's almost second to none. It's a one-in-two almost all the way through his career." The player himself, who has been training with former club FC Twente after leaving Celtic, revealed that he rejected offers from a number of clubs before settling on Hull City. "I looked at other clubs and held talks with them, but I didn't get the right feeling from them," Vennegoor of Hesselink said. "When I came to Hull City, I got the right feeling straight away. I am glad that everything has worked out OK and I am now looking forward to the challenge of playing in the biggest league in the world. "I want to play at the next World Cup. If I'm playing club games, that will give me the opportunity to get back into the Dutch squad."
