// A bit of a hack but it works// The article snippet is wrapped onto a second line, even when #article-sub is emptyif( $("div#article-sub").children().length == 0 ) {$("div#article-sub").remove();} Phil Brown admits he cannot wait for Jimmy Bullard to return to full fitness revealing the prospect of picking the midfielder was 'almost mouth-watering'.

The Hull City record £5million signing broke down on his debut against former club West Ham in January and has not played since.

The 30-year-old suffered cruciate ligament damage and while many feared for his career the former Wigan and Fulham man was always confident of coming back.

Bullard was expected to return by October but Brown has revealed that the popular midfielder could be back earlier than expected although the player will not be rushed.

"He is so close it is almost mouth-watering, the prospect of being able to pick him," the Tigers boss told the club's official website.

"But we have got to make sure the next week or two are spot on because, hopefully, when Jimmy is ready the cruciate will be behind him."
