Brown calls for hard work

Hull City manager Phil Brown has told his side that hard work is the only thing that will get them out of trouble.[LNB] The Tigers have not tasted victory in the Premier League since the beginning of December when they overcame Middlesbrough 2-1 at home.[LNB]A run of six straight defeats was halted when Brown's side drew at home to bottom of the table West Brom before a credible draw away at Chelsea in their last league fixture.[LNB]Despite sitting six points from safety, when many believed them certainties to make an immediate return to the Championship, Brown has recently come in for criticism for the club's winless run from a small section of his own fans.[LNB]"I think (coach) Steve Parkin wrote on the notice board that talent comes before work in the dictionary, but that is the only time it does," Brown said.[LNB]"When you say hard work, that is what Hull City are all about. We have to put our stamp on this Premier League with a Hull City performance between now and the end of the season.[LNB]"That begins on Monday night. But we did get back to basics against West Brom. We did get back to hard work, being in people's faces, disrespecting if necessary, putting on pressure from the front.[LNB]"There will be more of the same on Monday, I guarantee it."[LNB]Hull face Tottenham in a crucial game at the bottom of the table at the KC Stadium on Monday with the Tigers looking to do the double over the North Londoners.[LNB]ArrivalsSince that 1-0 win at White Hart Lane at the beginning of October Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has brought in the likes of Jermain Defoe, Robbie Keane and Wilson Palacios in a bid to beat the drop.[LNB]"People call him a wily old fox. He is a very experienced manager," the Tigers boss added.[LNB]"He must have spent over £50million in the transfer window, and not only that the previous manager spent over £50million at the start of the season.[LNB]"It is a very rich squad. But the bottom line is, they are in the predicament they are in because they are not performing.[LNB]"We have got to make sure on Monday they don't perform. The talent Tottenham have got, everybody would like, but the reason they are there is because the talent hasn't been on show on a regular basis."[LNB]Monday's game is followed by the FA Cup fifth round replay with Sheffield United on the Thursday before another crucial bottom of the table scrap with Blackburn at home on Sunday.[LNB]"It is a big week, there is no doubt about it, but we are not getting past Tottenham Hotspur," he explained.[LNB]"We have always lived a game at a time in my time at the club. So it is bring on Tottenham Hotspur and when the final whistle comes, then it is bring on Sheffield United."[LNB]
