Brown beams at Barmby

Hull City boss Phil Brown has intimated that he would be willing to hand Nicky Barmby a new contract. The 35-year-old has made 20 Premier League appearances this season and he impressed during last Saturday's 1-1 draw at Bolton Wanderers. Barmby's current deal is set to expire in the summer but the midfielder recently stated that he feels he can play for "another year or two". The relegation-threatened Tigers tackle Manchester United on Sunday and Brown is hopeful Barmby will continue his fine form to help secure the club's safety. He told the Hull Daily Mail: "Nicky is 35 but has typified what is required from any Hull City player. "Regardless of your age, you've got to put a shift in. "If you look at Nicky's statistics and the work-rate he put in for 70 minutes at Bolton was unbelievable. "I embraced Nicky when he came off because he gave it his all but I'd embrace any player if they do that on Sunday."
