Brown Agrees Compensation

Phil Brown has agreed to sever his ties with the club, while a deal to part-defer players' wages has yet to be signed off with tomorrow's pay-day looming large. According to the Daily Mail national newspaper, Brown has accepted an £800,000 pay-off. He had been on full-pay gardening leave since March when Iain Dowie took on management of the team, and had one year remaining on his contract worth a reported £1.4million salary. He will now be free to take on a job at another club with City receiving no compensation for their sacked employee. Director Martin Walker also left the club yesterday, but remains on the board of the Stadium Management Company, which he has had much more involvement in anyway since coming to Hull with Paul Duffen and Russell Bartlett three years ago. Meanwhile, staff wages are to be paid tomorrow with no deal yet in place to shave £1million off the £3.2million owed to players for May. The Professional Footballers' Association has verbally agreed a deferral structure with the club which it is recommending the players to take, but with players now on their summer break and with documents to be signed off, it may be hard to push through in time.
