Boateng backing for Brown

Hull City midfielder George Boateng has backed under-fire boss Phil Brown to turn around the club's fortunes. Brown has come in for criticism following a poor start to the season, with last weekend's defeat at home to Birmingham seeing the side slip into the bottom three. Hull have failed to recapture the form of the first half of last season and since beating Middlesbrough in December 2008 have won only twice in 28 Premier League matches. Boateng insists Brown is doing everything he can to arrest the slide and he hopes they can ease the pressure by getting a result against Everton in their Carling Cup third-round tie at the KC Stadium. "This is the reality of football and the manager knows more than anyone else that results keep any manager in the job," said Boateng. "Believe me, he is more determined than anyone else to get results. "It is not pleasant when people attack the manager but he knows that and we are working on it. "We need to make sure we get a result soon." Boateng is hoping to earn a recall to the starting line-up for the first time since the 5-1 defeat to Tottenham in August, but the Dutchman insists he is not going to complain about his lack of regular action. "This is my 12th or 13th season in the Premier League and there has not been one where I haven't had to fight for a place in the team," added Boateng. "Even when I was captain at Middlesbrough I was constantly under scrutiny, on my toes. "We have got competition and it is up to the manager to find a good combination of players. "It is disappointing not to start but I am not banging on the manager's door. I know what to do."
