The 23-year-old midfielder agreed a short-term deal until the end of the season last week but was not eligible for Saturday's draw at Reading due to a delay with paperwork.
Belaid, who has Champions League experience, was released by former club Slavia Prague earlier this month and will be in contention for his Tigers debut in Saturday's home clash with QPR.
