Nick Barmby believes that if Hull City can retain their top-flight status they could become a mainstay in the Premier League for years to come.[LNB] Although the Tigers made a blistering start to Premier League life under Phil Brown this season, a barren spell in the second half of the campaign sees them battling to stay up.[LNB]The East Yorkshire outfit, who take on title-chasing Liverpool this weekend on home soil, are currently just three points clear of third from bottom Middlesbrough.[LNB]Barmby knows Brown's squad are desperate to stay up and believes it will be a massive fillip for the city if the Tigers can secure a second season of top-flight football.[LNB]Journey"We've all had a great journey coming this far but we don't want it to end," he told the Hull Daily Mail.[LNB]"Staying up means everything to this club because I genuinely believe if we can come through the first season, we'll be here for a long time.[LNB]"It all has a knock-on effect for the kids in the city, they're watching Premier League football every week and it changes their mentality for the better.[LNB]"They look at the best players in the world every week and they see what it takes to get to the top. We don't want to go back into the Championship, we have to fight to stay where we are."[LNB]
