ick Barmby will take on a player/coach role under new manager Nigel Pearson at Hull City next season.[LNB] Barmby, who started out as a professional at Tottenham 20 years ago, is moving towards the end of his playing career and wants to "put something back" into the game.[LNB]Barmby, a former team-mate of Pearson's at Middlesbrough, told Tigers Player: "I sat down with Nige two or three days ago and he asked me to be a little more involved in the coaching side, but it doesn't take away that I'm still registered as a player. I still want to play.[LNB]"I'll still be a part of the squad and try and help the lads on the pitch as well. I've still got a desire to play football. I still feel I can contribute.[LNB]"The coaching role is a sort of medium between the players and staff and I'll try and help the young lads with Stuart Watkiss and I'm looking forward to it.[LNB]"He's asking me to gradually go that way, which is great for me because I'm obviously coming to the latter stages of my career and I've always said I'd like to put something back, especially here at a club like Hull City."
