Barmby keen for Preston performance

Nick Barmby is hoping the point gained from the midweek draw at Leeds can set the Tigers up for victory in their bottom-three clash at Preston on Friday.

Player-coach Barmby, who hopes to play some part in the televised game at Deepdale after missing the 2-2 draw at Leeds due to a hamstring problem, believes a repeat performance could be good enough to secure all three points.

Barmby said: "We need the three points and so do Preston. I'm sure it will be cagey early on, but then I'm sure it will open out and we'll see two sides trying to win the game.

"We'll be scrapping for the points and as long as we go there with the same spirit and attitude we showed against Leeds on Tuesday and a good shape we'll be in with a chance of getting a good result.

"We can't be having one game where we do well and then another that's at the other end of the scale. We need to be more consistent and it would be nice to get an away win."
