Barmby eyes bright future
Nicky Barmby hopes Hull City can avoid relegation this season and stay in the Premier League for many years to come.
Barmby joined his hometown club in 2004 when they were still in League One and he has enjoyed his time with the Tigers immensely.
It has been an historic period for City, who are playing in the top flight for the first time this term, and Barmby is delighted to have played a part.
But he believes it is crucial for Phil Brown's men to beat the drop and keep on improving over the next couple of campaigns.
"It gives me pride to play for my home town in the Premier League and that's why it's imperative that we stay up," Barmby said in The Sun.
"If we do, hopefully we'll stay there for a long time. And that brings the profile of the club up.
"For the young kids coming through watching Premier League players week in week out makes their mentality better. Hopefully we can produce a few more lads coming through."
Barmby suffered a broken nose in Saturday's goalless draw with Portsmouth after being accidentally caught by Peter Crouch.
He explained: "It was a stray elbow by Mr Crouch of all people. It's one of those things, you know, no intention."
