04 May 2009 19:04
96 The referee blows his final whistle and Villa have ensured European football for next season while Hull's Premier League future is anything but ensured.[LNB]95 Another good ball in is cleared by Villa with Myhill up for the kick but the ball evades everyone.[LNB]95 Villa clear but only as far as Boateng whose shot is cleared for another corner.[LNB]94 Last chance for Hull they have a corner.[LNB]93 Milner looks to stretch the Hull defence as they bid to keep the ball.[LNB]92 Villa eat up a little more time with Reo-Coker coming on for Stilian Petrov.[LNB]92 Gardner comes on for Ashley Young who looks to have taken a knock in the last few moments.[LNB]91 Hull keep the ball well and find Dawson on the left. His high cross is met by Manucho but his header is easily saved by Friedel.[LNB]90 Will Hull have one last chance to a much needed point?[LNB]89 There will be four minutes of added on time.[LNB]88 Ricketts long throw is cleared but the full-back wins it back but to Villa's relief the referee gives the hosts a free-kick.[LNB]87 Even Martin O'Neill seems edgy on the sideline as Villa struggle to clear Hull's high balls into the area.[LNB]86 Will Carew's goal turn out to be the winner or can Hull snatch a late equaliser?[LNB]85 Villa make a change as Carew comes off for Emile Heskey.[LNB]84 The Tigers come forward again but Villa get some much needed relief when they are awarded a free-kick.[LNB]83 Hull continue to come forward and Marney is all of a sudden pulling the strings in the midfield.[LNB]82 How have Hull not scored? Finally they get a good delivery from Dawson just outside the area right hand side. The left-back swings in left footed but Cousin and Manucho both leave the ball and Barmby's effort is easily saved by Friedel. Nervous times for Villa.[LNB]81 Villa Park crowd are edgy. Hull win a corner after Garcia challenges in the area but it's another poor delivery for the Tigers.[LNB]80 Marney finds Barmby in space on the left but his cross is lofted and the ball is cleared.[LNB]79 Ricketts looks to get in down the right again but the ball runs out for a goal kick. The visitors are running out of time.[LNB]78 Hull's best move of the match. Cross from the right is met by Cousin whose volley is saved by Friedel with Barmby inches away from diverting the ball into the net.[LNB]77 The free-kick is played in and finds Carew at the back post unmarked. The striker heads back across goal to find an equally unmarked Agbonlahor but his header from three yards is saved brilliantly by Myhill. Should have scored but great save.[LNB]76 Agbonlahor skips past Zayette to go through on goal but the defender brings him down. The centre-half is saved by the fact that Turner was in close attendence to clear the danger.[LNB]75 Manucho wins a corner for the visitors and Zayette gets a free header on goal but he can't direct it goalwards.[LNB]74 Milner has the ball on the left hand side and he looks to pick Petrov out but his pass is picked off in the area.[LNB]73 Petrov feeds Milner on the rigth his deep cross is met by Barry who wins a corner on the left.[LNB]72 Manucho is going to come on for Hull in Phil Brown's last throw of the dice as he replaces Kilbane.[LNB]71 The ball is whipped in but Dawson is there. Villa attack once more as they go for the kill. Carew's flick-on is chased down by Agbonlahor but Dawson is there to cover.[LNB]70 Villa charge forward again and it's there turn to win a corner.[LNB]69 The set piece is cleared and Hull have another chance to get the ball in the box but the Tiger's delivery tonight has been nothing short of abysmal.[LNB]68 This time Andy Dawson strikes at goal and his effort is poor but they earn a corner.[LNB]67 The visitors make a mess of the first free-kick as Cousin and Kilbane get in each others way but they are lucky to get another chance as Cousin is felled five yards closer to goal.[LNB]66 With theBrazilian on the bench Kilbane looks interested but Marney is there as well as is Cousin.[LNB]65 Hull look to come forward and Garcia wins a free-kick 30 yards out. Can they improve on Geovanni's attempt in the first-half.[LNB]64 Villa are looking more threatening as Carew flicks on a long Friedel kick but Young can't get on the end of it.[LNB]63 Villa break again with Milner. The winger ignores the advances of Ashley Young to go by himself and his left footed shot forces a fine save from Myhill low down to his right.[LNB]62 Milner gets a second bite of the cherry as his deep cross finds Agbonlahor but his header back across goal is not pounced on by anyone in a Villa shirt.[LNB]61 The crowd have quietened off a litle but Knight has earned Villa a corner after a long free-kick comes off Turner.[LNB]60 The pace of the game has died off a little and you sense that the next goal is going to be crucial.[LNB]59 Agbonlahor chases down a seemingly lost cause with the ball almost certainly running out for a goal kick but his pace sees him reach the it just in time as he forces a throw-in.[LNB]58 The challenges are flying in as Milner brings the ball foward. He has Ashley Young to his right and Agbonlahor to his left but he opts to shoot and the ball goes wide off the right post.[LNB]57 Villa have their best passing move of the second period but Agbonlahor's cross from the right is cleared easily.[LNB]56 The hosts are on the back foot for the time being as they can't seem to get out of their half. Although they are not under too much goal mouth pressure.[LNB]55 Hull are playing much better than the first-half as they look to get an equaliser. They have just got to improve their final ball.[LNB]54 The Tigers cross from the right with a free-kick on the halfway line and Kilbane heads tamely at Friedel.[LNB]53 Milner crosses early from the right and finds Petrov free in the area but his control lets him down as he looks to lay the ball off to Carew.[LNB]52 Zayette is struggling now as Hull are temporarily down to 10-men.[LNB]51 Understandably a number of Hull players seem to be low on confidence, on a couple of occasions the first time pass is on to open up the Villa defence but the Tigers players always want to take two or three extra touches.[LNB]50 Hull keep the ball well and work it to the left hand side but Barmby's flick inside the box is too far for Cousin.[LNB]49 Carew is winning a lot of ball in the air and you get the impression that Agbonlahor will benefit from one of his flick-ons.[LNB]48 Barry receives the ball short from the resulting corner and his inswinging ball is cleared brilliantly by Zayette under pressure.[LNB]47 Barry works the ball onto his weaker right foot and fires a shot from 25 yards but Myhill reaches to save high to his left.[LNB]46 Villa look to start the second-half well with the team working the ball down the left.[LNB] The teams are out for the second period with the Tigers set to kick us off.[LNB] There is going to be one change for the second-half with Nick Barmby coming on for Geovanni.[LNB] Daniel Walsh believes Villa can hold out but it will depend on whether the players lose their focus in the last 10 minutes of the match.[LNB] Neil from Queenstown, New Zealand believes Villa have turned a corner and they will hold out for the win. Come on Tigers fans are you really doomed?[LNB] Michael a Newcastle fan from the USA hopes that James Milner can add a second to ease Magpies supporters nerves.[LNB] A lot of Villa fans are backing the 3-0 win. Here are the latest odds with Sky Bet for those who are interested.[LNB]Villa: 2/15[LNB]Draw: 5/1[LNB]Hull: 16/1[LNB] Villa fans your home form isn't the best but can you hold out? Let me know and email me at Richard.bailey2@bskyb.com.[LNB] So Hull fans after a good start to the game your defence has crumbled again but can you get back into the game?[LNB]48 That is the last action of the first-half as the referee blows his whistle.[LNB]48 Great chance for 2-0. Luke Young plays Agbonlahor in. The striker has the goal at his mercy after a slip from marker Zayette but instead of advancing on goal he takes the shot early and Myhill tips over with Carew in the middle.[LNB]47 The ball is crossed in but it just evades Carew in the middle.[LNB]46 Another Tigers attack is easily snuffed out by Villa as they look to attack down the right.[LNB]45 Geovanni is having a torrid night. He's just given away the ball and then in his desperation to win it back given away a free-kick.[LNB]44 The fourth official has indicated that there will be four minutes of added on time.[LNB]43 Geovanni bursts into the box but his cross-shot evades the goal and Cousin in the box.[LNB]42 Hull clear another Villa cross from the left but it only goes as far as Ashley Young. The winger darts into the area and goes down after a small nudge from Ricketts but again the refere waves away the protests.[LNB]41 Hull have a chance to test Friedel with a free-kick 40 yards out. It is a long way out but you never know in these slippery conditions but Geovanni's effort goes well wide and well over.[LNB]40 The problem that the visitors have is that when they do clear the ball Villa are coming straight back at them.[LNB]39 Milner works the corner short but the danger is easily cleared by Hull.[LNB]38 Ashley Young is teasing the Hull defence with his delicate touches. His ball in from the right finds Barry who sets Agbonlahor but his effort is deflected for a corner.[LNB]37 Ashley Young is played in down the right but just when he looks to have got the wrong side of Zayette the defender gets a foot to the ball and it's another corner to Villa.[LNB]36 Hull look to get back into the game as they loft another long ball into the box but Friedel claims again.[LNB]35 Carew looks to go down under a challenge from Zayette looking for a penalty but the referee waves play on. Surely if the referee thinks he has dived why not book him?[LNB]34 Young looks to add to Hull's woes and wickedly whips in a corner but it is cleared from underneath Myhill's crossbar.[LNB]33 Hull look to claim for offiside for the goal but the television replays show that Carew was level with Turner.[LNB]32 GOAL CAREW Barry and Petrov win the ball back off Boateng on the egde of their own area and Barry sends Young down the left. The winger checks back onto his right foot and Carew breaks the offside trap, just, to tap home.[LNB]31 Who says all Brazilians are technically gifted? Hull cross into the box but Geovanni shows a rare glitch with a miss-kick in the area.[LNB]30 Richard Garcia tries to put Cousin in but Curtis Davies comes across to clear the danger but Cousin appears to fly in on the defender with both feet. The referee waves play on.[LNB]29 Young looks to make in roads through the middle but is matched all the way by Ricketts whose tackle sends Hull on the attack.[LNB]28 The Tigers need to start getting their more creative players on the ball and they do just that when Geovanni is released downt the right with the Brazilian winning a corner.[LNB]27 Agbonlahor nips in front of Ricketts and looks to advance on goal but play is pulled back for offside.[LNB]26 The Tigers float another long free-kick into the box but Villa clear again.[LNB]25 To highlight the wet conditions Petrov can't stop when trying to keep the ball in play on the touchline and he flips over the advertising boards and into the crowd.[LNB]24 Milner surprises everyone and shoots right footed but the shot is straight at Myhill and the keeper tips over.[LNB]23 Barry is also sniffing around the ball along with Milner but Young has placed the ball.[LNB]22 Agbonlahor is caught late just left of centre outside the area and Ashley Young rushes over to take.[LNB]21 A number of players may be looking to change their footwear at half-time with a lot of players slipping over in the wet conditions.[LNB]20 Villa are starting to pen the visitors into their own half as they begin to enjoy a spell of prolonged pressure.[LNB]19 Petrov lifts a ball over the top for Carew to chase but Boaz Myhill comes off his line to clear the danger.[LNB]18 Carew flicks on for Agbonlahor but the striker is adjudged to have fould Michael Turner when in a dangerous position.[LNB]17 The visitors are defending well and their efforts seem to have silenced the Villa faithful for the time being.[LNB]16 Hull break down another Villa move as George Boateng advances and unleashes a powerful drive but his shot is blocked.[LNB]15 The game has gone slightly scrappy as Ashley Young races through on goal only to be flagged down for offiside.[LNB]14 Young has started brightly on the left flank and it will be a key battle between the England ace and Ricketts.[LNB]13 The Tigers have started well and don't seem to be overawed by the task infront of them but Villa should work out their long ball tactic sooner rather than later.[LNB]12 Villa's poor run of form seems to have got to the supporters with a number of empty seats evident around Villa Park.[LNB]11 Hull send a long free-kick into the box and Brad Friedel comes out to claim but the referee awards Villa a generous free-kick.[LNB]10 First chance. Stilian Petrov crosses from the right and Carew meets the ball at the near post only to see his flicked header bounce inches wide of the far post.[LNB]9 Its the end of Ashbee's night as he limps off to be replaced by Dean Marney.[LNB]8 First chance for Gabriel Agbonlahor to stretch his legs and his cross from the left is sniffed out by Zayatte with John Carew nearby.[LNB]7 Ashbee is up on his feet and it looks like he will try and carry on.[LNB]6 Ashbee and James Milner go into a 50-50 with each other and it seems that Ashbee has come off worse. The skipper looks in pain as he receives treatment.[LNB]5 Daniel Cousin lets fly from distance but his shot is blocked by Zat Knight and Gareth Barry gets Villa on the attack.[LNB]4 Great start to the match, both sides showing their attacking intent.[LNB]3 Luke Young races into the area but his cross from the right is cut out at the near post. Good opportunity.[LNB]2 Ashley Young comes forward and turns his man inside out but his cross from the left is cleared.[LNB]2 Hull have begun brightly forcing Villa on the backfoot and Ian Ashbee sends a volley from outside the box just wide.[LNB]1 Villa get us under way with the hosts shooting from right to left.[LNB] The teams are out on the pitch and kick-off is just a few minutes away.[LNB] Vasham from Manchester believes Villa will run out 3-0 winners with Ashley Young getting a hat-trick.[LNB] Dave Lomas favours Villa to win the match 2-0 with the hosts attack proving to be too strong for Hull.[LNB] Mike in Hull another Tigers fans is bemused by Phil Brown's team selection and he just can't see where a win will come from for his side.[LNB] Jared from Vermont in the USA is a massive Tigers fan and he is hoping for a 2-1 Hull win but admits that his head says it will end up a 1-1 draw.[LNB] Both sides need to win tonight with Villa keen to take back fifth place from Everton and Hull City eager to go six points clear of the relegation zone.
