Hull City midfielder Ian Ashbee has revealed he is moving a step closer towards his playing comeback at the KC Stadium.[LNB] Ashbee has been sidelined for almost a year after suffering cruciate knee ligament damage last season, which many feared could signal the end of his career.[LNB]But the 33-year-old has fought back having undergone surgery in America, and although Iain Dowie has forbidden him undertaking tackling and physical contact, he is back in training.[LNB]"I'm back in full training every day now and it's getting close to full contact," he told the club's official website.[LNB]"I'm as far along as I can be at this stage and it's a case of getting a few more weeks under my belt to make sure everything is alright.[LNB]"I've still got to take things easy and make sure I do things right. The last thing I want to do is something silly to put myself back.[LNB]"But things have felt good so far. It might be a case of having another scan just to make sure everything is okay.[LNB]"I'm training every day and getting no reaction or swelling or anything like that."[LNB]Hull are currently embroiled in a relegation dogfight at the bottom of the Premier League as they look to escape the drop for successive seasons.[LNB]Following a draw against Birmingham on Saturday the Tigers take on Aston Villa on Wednesday and Ashbee is staying positive.[LNB]"If we can get a win it puts everybody else on the backfoot so that is what we have got to do," he added. [LNB]"It's in our hands and we have got to try and make it happen."
