Ashbee could miss August

Hull City midfielder Ian Ashbee fears he may miss the opening month of the new season due to a lack of match fitness. The 32-year-old has only recently resumed training after rupturing his posterior cruciate ligament against Aston Villa in May. Ashbee is keen to hit the ground running this term, but feels he has missed out on too much of the Tigers' pre-season training. "I would say I'll have missed out on too much pre-season to be considered for the opening weeks of the season," he told the Mail. "I'll be back in amongst the lads then I'd think but missing too much of the running would make it difficult. "I don't envisage being able to play in any of the pre-season games but I suppose it's all about how my knee will react. "I'm feeling the difference every day, which is positive, but with an injury like this there's always got to be patience."
