Huddersfield Town youngster Shane Killock has joined Blue Square North side Hyde United on loan.

The 18-year-old defender has been sent out to gain experience in a month-long deal, after agreeing a new contract with the Terriers which will see him staying at the Galpharm until the summer of 2009.

Killock has previous non-league experience with Ossett Albion and has made one first-team appearance for Town, coming last September in the 2-0 League One defeat to Crewe.

Manager Andy Ritchie told the club's official website: "It will be great experience for him and it's exactly what he needs. He's been fantastic about the move but I expected as much.

"It's a good standard and he will be playing against people for who the game really means something for - nothing really hangs on reserve-team games, but the players there need to get wins in order to get money through the door."

Meanwhile, forward Lucas Akins has returned to Town from his loan spell at Northwich Victoria.
