Town players elated with win

Young Huddersfield Town keeper Alex Smithies has spoken of the delight amongst team-mates at the 1-0 victory over local rivals Leeds United on Saturday.

Smithies put in a man of the match performance to keep Leeds' potent attack at bay, just over a year after the 18-year-old made his full Town debut in a 4-0 loss to United.

"I'm obviously delighted about the game and the result, particularly given how my first experience against Leeds went," he told the club's official website.

"The result was fantastic, but it was good for me personally as well.

"The rest of the lads felt exactly like I did at the final whistle - elated. That was the one game that we really wanted to win and we have produced again."
