Huddersfield Town are on the verge of signing Southend United defender Peter Clarke on a free transfer.
Terriers boss Lee Clark is pleased the in-demand former Everton trainee has opted to sign a three-year contract at the Galpharm Stadium.
He told the club's official website: "Peter's a real coup for the club. Although he had other options available to him, including clubs from higher divisions, we're delighted he's chosen to move to us.
"We've had him watched on many occasions and I like what I've seen of him, especially in his game against us at home earlier this season.
"I've been more and more impressed with Peter since I've met him. He has a terrific mentality and I'm sure he'll become a vital member of our side."
