Terriers snap up Smith

Huddersfield Town boss Peter Jackson has bolstered his promotion-chasing squad by signing defender Dan Smith on a month's loan from Sunderland.

Smith can play in defence or midfield and has plenty of experience despite being just 19-year's old after playing in the Carling Cup for the Black Cats this season.

Jackson is delighted to have landed the player who will go straight into the squad that faces Blackpool at home this weekend.

"I am delighted Mick McCarthy has let him come here on a month's loan," Jackson revealed.

"He is a solid player, able to play either in defence or the side of midfield.

"With Tony Carss injured, we only have Danny Adams who is left-footed and I felt that we needed some cover in that area."
