Huddersfield Town boss Peter Jackson has confirmed that the club will be appealing against the controversial red card shown to Jon Worthington during Sunday's FA Cup defeat at Accrington Stanley.
The midfielder was given his marching orders after just 16 minutes of the tie and although the Terriers mounted a stubborn rearguard action they finally succumbed to a late Andy Gouck goal, which handed the Nationwide Conference side a 1-0 victory.
Jackson was furious with the referee at the time of Worthington's dismissal and watching a video replay of the incident did little to quell his sense of injustice.
"It was a shocking decision," he complained. "I've watched it again and certainly haven't changed my mind.
"It was going to be hard with 11 men at Accrington, but we were down to ten after just 16 minutes - so of course it had a major impact on the game.
"It was a ridiculous decision and we have had no hesitation in appealing against it."
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Ian Gray broke his hand during Sunday's game and is facing at least a month on the sidelines.
