Terriers accept red card
22 Feb 2007 - 10:03:56
Huddersfield Town manager Peter Jackson has decided not to launch an appeal against Andy Holdsworth's dismissal in the 3-2 victory at Rotherham United.
The Town right-back was shown a straight red card for handball after 28 minutes and now faces a one-match ban.
"It was a terrific performance, particularly because we were down to 10 men for much of the match. Our fitness levels were excellent," said the Terriers boss.
"But we've decided not to appeal. We looked at the video and it was pretty inconclusive and then I spoke with the referee's assessor.
"He explained that Andy will be banned for one match and will miss the Crewe game, but if the appeal failed he could face a two or three-game ban.
"Since I've been manager I've appealed three times and all of them have been rejected and I didn't think it was worth the risk of losing Andy for longer than is necessary."
