Ternent anger at late lapse
22 Oct 2008 - 13:00:50
Stan Ternent accused his Huddersfield Town players of criminal defending after they conceded three goals in the last seven minutes to lose 5-3 to Hartlepool United.
The Terriers looked like holding on for the win after leading 3-2 after 85 minutes of their clash at Victoria Park, before Pools hit them with a late hurricane to take the points.
"After over 30 years as a manager, I've looked at this game tonight and I can't believe what I'm seeing," claimed Ternent.
"We are making basic, fundamental errors to give goals away and if it wasn't so serious they would be comical.
"There were a lot of good things, but there were a lot of what I call criminal things that players shouldn't do, but we do."
Meanwhile, Town have extended the loan stay of Derby County striker Liam Dickinson for a third month.
The 23-year-old has scored six goals in ten games since joining the League One side in August.
