    Schofield shocks Terriers

    28 Feb 2008 - 11:27:39

Midfielder Danny Schofield has rocked Huddersfield Town by saying that he wants to leave the club.

The 27-year-old has spent his entire professional career with the Terriers, making almost 300 first-team appearances for the club since making his debut over eight years ago.

Town boss Andy Ritchie told the club's official website: "Danny's asked to leave the club for personal reasons and because he wants a clean slate.

"He's spoken with his family and has come to the conclusion that this is the best move for him and we'll do all we can to help him.

"It isn't a transfer request. He just feels he needs a new challenge. We've circulated his name and he may go out on loan somewhere, or get a permanent move at the end of the season.

"There are no hard and fast timescales, so he'll continue to train with us and we'll see how it goes.

"He's been a fantastic servant and ambassador for the club. He's a great lad and a great character and we're happy to support him in any way we can."
