Ritchie unhappy with ref
06 Dec 2007 - 11:05:45
Huddersfield Town boss Andy Ritchie was unhappy with referee Mick Thorpe's decision to send off goalkeeper Matt Glennon in Wednesday's 4-1 defeat to Southend.
The Terriers were reduced to ten men on 75 minutes when Glennon was sent off for a professional foul on Leon Clarke.
Southend were 2-1 up at the time and went on to stretch their lead before Thorpe also sent off defender Frank Sinclair in the closing stages.
"We didn't play well at all, especially in the first half and we were fortunate to go in only 1-0 down at half-time," admitted Ritchie.
"We created a good goal but the sending-off wrecked the game for us.
"Our keeper was sent off despite their player Leon Clarke telling the referee that he slipped and Matt didn't touch him. I'm hoping it will be rescinded."
