Huddersfield Town manager Andy Ritchie hopes to bring a new striker to the club when the loan window opens later this week.
The Terriers boss has hoped to recruit the player, who is currently with a Championship side, before the January transfer window closed last Thursday.
Ritchie told the Huddersfield Examiner: "We're still talking with the hope that something might materialise this week.
"I'm after a striker, but one who can play wide as well as down the middle."
Town have struggled for goals all season with top scorer Andy Booth only finding the net six times in the league while Luke Beckett has scored five goals.
