Ritchie admits play-off defeat

Huddersfield Town manager Andy Ritchie has admitted the League One play-offs are now out of their reach following the weekend defeat to Southend United.

The Terriers lost 2-1 at the Galpharm Stadium and Ritchie believes their play-off aspirations are now over for another season.

He said: "Probably the play-offs are out of the window with that result, but we've got a lot of points to fight for and we want to win as many games as we can."

Meanwhile, Ritchie has revealed that Danny Schofield has held talks with an unnamed club over a summer transfer.

The unsettled midfielder has already been given permission to seek a move, but Ritchie is adamant he remains part of the first-team picture until the end of the campaign.

"He's had a chat with a club and I believe the talks went quite well, so I'll be speaking to Danny to see what the outcome is," he added.

"He's still part of our team and he's not going on loan anywhere."
