New skipper for Terriers
07 Nov 2008 - 14:38:16
Caretaker manager Gerry Murphy has shaken up the under-performing Huddersfield Town squad by naming Andy Holdsworth as their new captain.
The 24-year-old defender was not even a first-team regular under former manager Stan Ternent, but will lead the Terriers in Saturday's FA Cup first round meeting with Port Vale.
Murphy has also confirmed that club captain Chris Lucketti will return to the substitute's bench.
"Andy is a thinking man's footballer who reads the game very well," Murphy told the club's official website.
"He's got a great attitude and a lot of other qualities as well and that's why I've chosen him to take the armband.
"The lads have shown great application on the training ground in the last couple of days and I want them to take that out onto the field, play with no shackles and give the fans something to cheer."
