Mirfin sets sights on return

Huddersfield Town defender David Mirfin is closing in on a return to first-team action after four weeks on the sidelines.

The 21-year-old suffered a thigh injury in the Terriers' 2-2 draw with Tranmere at the end of September, but after missing five matches, Mirfin is close to making a return.

"Mirf is working in the gym but won't be able to step things up until next week at the earliest," said Town boss Peter Jackson.

"Ideally we would like him to have a reserve run out before considering him for a first-team return.

"The reserves are at Port Vale on November 6, so if Mirf does make progress, that could be a possibility."
