Stead set to start
Huddersfield striker Jonathan Stead could make his first start of the season in the home Capital One Cup clash with Charlton.
Stead stepped off the substitutes' bench in the weekend win over Bournemouth for his first league appearance since returning to his hometown club in the summer.
Town beat Bournemouth 5-1 on Saturday to seal a second successive league victory and Robins said he was tempted to send out the same team, but also acknowledged several players were in need of a competitive run-out.
The likes of winger Danny Ward, defender Calum Woods and striker Sean Scannell are in contention for recalls, but midfield pair Keith Southern (calf) and Anton Robinson (knee) remain sidelined.
Charlton skipper Johnnie Jackson is in line to return to the squad.
The midfielder has missed the last two matches with a calf problem with boss Chris Powell opting not to risk him in Saturday's league meeting with Doncaster, which was abandoned at half-time due to a waterlogged pitch.
But Powell has pencilled Jackson in to get some playing time against the Terriers, although he could start on the bench.
Powell could also give the likes of Leon Cort, Cedric Evina, Danny Hollands and Marvin Sordell run-outs but midfielder Dale Stephens is struggling with a groin injury.
