Clarke op woe for Town
18 Oct 2006 - 13:32:48
Huddersfield Town have been hit by the news teenage defender Tom Clarke requires surgery on a knee injury this week.
The 18-year-old suffered the injury during Saturday's 2-1 win against Carlisle which ruled him out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy first round defeat against Doncaster at the Galpharm Stadium.
However, it has just been revealed that the problem requires surgery and Clarke will go under the knife on Thursday resulting in a sizeable absence from first-team action.
Boss Peter Jackson told the Daily Examiner: "It's not good news for Tom or for the club, but we're keeping our fingers crossed.
"Tom went to see the specialist and he's decided to do an exploratory operation to have a look around inside the knee joint.
"Anything untoward will be dealt with straight away but we've no idea at this stage how long he'll be out."
Clarke, along with David Mirfin, Gary Taylor-Fletcher and Andy Holdsworth, are all set to miss Saturday's trip to Port Vale.
