Clarke agrees new Terriers deal

Huddersfield Town defender Nathan Clarke has agreed a one-year extension to his current contract that will keep him at the McAlpine Stadium until June 2005.

"It's great news for us and a real boost to the team," Terriers boss Peter Jackson told the club's official website.

"Nathan has had an horrendous 18 months of injury and this is his reward for working so hard in the past three months.

"He is only 20 and is gradually getting back to his best and is finding the form he had before his injury.

"There were many top Premiership teams looking at him then which shows the potential and ability he has. He is getting stronger month by month and his hard work in training would suggest that he has fully recovered from his injury."

The 20-year-old defender has also been boosted by the news that he will only serve a one-match ban for the red card he picked up at Macclesfield Town on Saturday.

It has been confirmed that his dismissal in the 4-0 defeat was for preventing a goalscoring opportunity and not for violent conduct, which would have meant a three-match suspension.
