Booth to hang up his boots

Huddersfield Town striker Andy Booth has confirmed that he will retire at the end of the season.

The 35-year-old has scored 148 goals in 450 appearances in his two spells with the Terriers and is third in the club's all-time scoring charts.

Booth also enjoyed a five-year stint with Sheffield Wednesday and played four matches for Tottenham during a brief loan spell at White Hart Lane in 2001.

The veteran forward told the club's official website: "Anything over the age of 30 is a bonus, but to still be playing at 35 and still be at Huddersfield means a lot to me.

"I always had it in my mind that this was going to be my last season. We haven't made it to the play-offs this season but we'll finish in a good position."

Booth will now take on an ambassadorial role at the Galpharm Stadium working with the club's commercial team.
