Clayton ready to face old friends

Huddersfield's Adam Clayton is expected to face former club Leeds following suspension, but fellow midfielder Keith Southern is still banned.

Clayton, who joined the Terriers from Leeds in the summer, missed the midweek defeat at Middlesbrough after reaching five yellow cards and is likely to return to the side, but Southern sits out the second game of a three-match ban following his straight red card in the recent draw at Charlton.

Another former Leeds player, Jermaine Beckford, remains doubtful after missing the last three games with a hamstring injury, as does fellow striker Sean Scannell, who has missed the same number of games due to a similar problem.

Manager Simon Grayson is also expected to be without a third forward, James Vaughan, who is still struggling with the thigh strain that has forced him to miss the last seven matches.

Grayson has no other new injury or suspension problems as his side chase their first league win in four matches, but midfielder Oscar Gobern (ankle surgery) is still out.

Leeds defender Jason Pearce may have to settle for a place on the substitutes' bench in the West Yorkshire derby.

Pearce has missed the last three games through suspension following his straight red card in the recent home defeat to Watford and in his absence Neil Warnock drafted in Swansea defender Alan Tate on loan.

Tate has performed impressively in Leeds' last two games - victories over Crystal Palace and Leicester - and Warnock is reluctant to change a winning formula against his former club.

Another recent loan signing, Jerome Thomas from West Brom, is expected to continue on the left wing, while last season's leading goalscorer Ross McCormack is pushing for a place in the starting line-up after recovering from his ankle injury.

Forward Luke Varney will sit out the second game of his three-match ban following his recent red card at Millwall and midfielder Rudi Austin remains sidelined after cracking a bone in his ankle, but Warnock has no new injury or suspension problems as his side chase a third straight league win.
