Danny aims to Ward off injury

Huddersfield winger Danny Ward is hoping to make his first start of the year against Charlton.

Ward returned to the bench in midweek after a 16-game injury lay-off and marked his first appearance since breaking a bone in his foot in December with a last-minute thunderbolt in the win over Middlesbrough after going on as a late substitute.

But the Terriers will still be without striker James Vaughan, who sits out the second game of a three-match ban, while midfielder Keith Southern, out since mid-January, remains sidelined with an Achilles injury.

Defender Calum Woods is doubtful after missing the last two games with a hamstring strain and Jermaine Beckford, out of action since the end of January, is still struggling with a similar problem.

Defender Anthony Gerrard is expected to be fit after sustaining a knock in midweek as the Terriers chase back-to-back wins for the first time since October.

Charlton will check on Leon Cort ahead of the trip.

The defender missed Tuesday night's 2-2 draw at Peterborough after suffering a knee injury against Burnley at the weekend and will probably replace Matt Taylor at centre-half if he is passed fit.

Midfielder Dale Stephens remains a doubt after missing the last two matches following a training-ground knock, while striker Yann Kermorgant completes a three-match ban.

Teenage winger Callum Harriott made only his second start for the Addicks in midweek and will hope to keep his place after a lively display.

Ben Hamer is challenging David Button in goal after losing his first-team spot over the weekend, while midfielder Andy Hughes could feature having recently recovered from a long-term Achilles injury.
