Southern worry for Terriers

Huddersfield midfielder Keith Southern is in a race to be fit for the home game against table-toppers Burnley.

Southern, who has been restricted to four appearances this season due to an earlier calf injury, missed last week's derby win at Sheffield Wednesday with a similar problem.

Skipper Peter Clarke remains sidelined with the knee injury that could keep him out for up to three months, while Tommy Smith is expected to retain his place at right-back.

Manager Mark Robins has no other injury or suspension issues as Huddersfield bid for back-to-back league wins for the first time since August, with new signing Harry Bunn unlikely to feature.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche will once again check on midfielder Dean Marney.

Marney, who has struggled with injury in recent weeks, missed last weekend's 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest and faces a late fitness test.

The Sky Bet Championship leaders have no fresh injury or suspension concerns and Dyche has plenty of options available to him should he wish to freshen things up.

The Clarets are unbeaten in their last 12 league matches but are without a win in their previous three outings.
