Hoyle, who owns greeting cards store chain Card Factory, won the Ernst & Young North & Midlands Overall Entrepreneur of the Year 2009 award. The 41-year-old opened his first shop in 1997 with his wife Janet and now oversees nearly 500 outlets across Britain, employing 4,000 staff. He officially replaced Ken Davy as Terriers chairman last month, but was behind the decision which led to the departure of former manager Stan Ternent after six months in charge before handing Lee Clark his management breakthrough in December.
