Harewood rumours quashed

Huddersfield chief executive Nigel Clibbens has rubbished speculation linking the club with former Aston Villa frontman Marlon Harewood. The Terriers were reported to be competing with Premier League new-boys Blackpool for the signature of the 30-year-old striker, who is a free agent after his Villa contract expired in the summer. But Clibbens told the club's official website: "I was very surprised to see that we were linked with Marlon Harewood in the press. He has never been a target." "Regardless of that fact, some of the figures Huddersfield Town is reported as being willing to pay are totally ridiculous. "Normally we don't give speculation a second thought, but reports like this bring our club and what we are trying to do here into disrepute. "Throwing our names into articles seems routine and I suppose we should be flattered; however, in most cases - just like this - it is absolute nonsense."
