Clarke ready for Town call

Huddersfield's Tom Clarke is determined to fight as hard as he can to earn a first-team place after returning to full fitness. The versatile 23-year-old has made only five league appearances this season after being blighted first by the knee injury he suffered in last year's play-off final, then by an ankle problem. However, having got a run-out in a behind-closed-doors friendly match against Sheffield United on Tuesday, Clarke has declared himself ready to play his part in Town's final seven games as they push for promotion to the Championship. He told the Huddersfield Daily Examiner: "I'm pushing as hard as I can. "It's tough with the quality we have at the club, but it's a case of focusing on every training session and making sure that if the call comes, I'm ready. "I love being at this club and being around the lads. We know there's a lot of football still to be played, and a lot of hard work to get through, but we're all optimistic about our chances."
