Clarke makes Colchester switch

Huddersfield defender Nathan Clarke has joined League One promotion rivals Colchester on loan until the end of the season. Clarke, 27, has struggled to hold down a place in Lee Clark's starting line-up this season and after slipping down the pecking order has opted for a move to gain regular first-team football. Town manager Clark said: "Obviously Nathan hasn't played as much football as he would like this season and, as we did with Theo Robinson earlier in the campaign, when players get frustrated we will try and help them out. "From the team's perspective we have strength in that area of the pitch in Peter Clarke, Jamie McCombe and Antony Kay. Clarke, a product of the Huddersfield academy, made his debut for Town as a 17-year-old in 2001 and has made close to 300 appearances. He would not be eligible to play if Huddersfield meet Colchester in this season's play-offs.
