Clark pleased with scrappy success

Huddersfield boss Lee Clark admitted his side were forced to "win ugly" after they claimed a narrow 1-0 victory at Hartlepool. Anthony Pilkington's 14th goal of the season extended the Terriers` unbeaten run to nine games as he got behind the defence to shoot low past Scott Flinders after 11 minutes. The mid-table home side failed to spark in the opening half but pressed the Terriers back throughout the second period only for the visitors to hold on for maximum points. Clark said: "We won ugly, we had to fight and battle. But first half we played good stuff and had good chances, we could have had more than one goal. "I'm delighted with the spirit we showed. It doesn't help when you get silly decisions against you. "It was a battle, I knew it would be. Mick (Wadsworth) has done magnificently well with this bunch of players, they have taken points off teams and we had to be ready for it. I'm delighted with the outcome, and Lee Novak was outstanding. The back lads were magnificent too."
