Clark demands defensive improvements

Huddersfield boss Lee Clark has urged his side to tighten up at the back following the 5-1 Carling Cup defeat at Everton. Marouane Fellaini and Jack Rodwell put Everton in control of the tie early on but a John Heitinga own goal ensured the Terriers were only a goal behind at the break. However, Jermaine Beckford scored from the spot before Lee Peltier was dismissed for a second booking and goals from Louis Saha and Leon Osman sealed the rout. "The goals we have been conceding in the last two games have been disappointing from my point of view and we will get on the training ground looking to rectify that ahead of the Charlton game," said Clark. "The game on Saturday is of huge importance and although Wednesday night was a great occasion for the supporters and the Club, it was going to be a long-shot for us to win the Carling Cup. "Achieving what we want to in League One is our goal - that's our bread and butter and that's what we are focusing on."
