Clark - Bennett proved his worth

Huddersfield manager Lee Clark insists Ian Bennett`s performance against Bournemouth demonstrated why he has recently been rewarded with a new contract. Bennett pulled off two fine first-half saves to deny Marc Pugh and then, with an hour gone, produced a stunning fingertip effort to turn a goal-bound free-kick from the Bournemouth wideman over the bar. Following the 1-1 draw on the south coast, Clark said: "Our goalkeeper Ian Bennett has had an outstanding game and showed why we've just given him an extension to his contract. "He made two fine first half saves and in the second pulled off a terrific fingertip save from a free-kick. He's a fantastic goalkeeper and a great character around the dressing room." Clark added: "We didn't play particularly well in all aspects of our game. Our passing was average at best. But, when you play poorly away from home and still pick up a point, you've got to be pleased. "It was a good move for the equalising goal, one of the few opportunities we got to pass the ball and Danny took his goal very well."
