Phillip Cocu and John Heitinga are in danger of missing the Netherlands' final World Cup Group C game against Argentina on Wednesday.
The pair sat out training on Saturday, with Cocu suffering from an ankle knock and Heitinga nursing a slight hamstring strain.
The clash with Argentina will decide who finishes top of the group, but with the Oranje having already booked their place in the last 16, captain Edwin van der Sar sees no reason to rush the pair back in to action.
"The most important thing is that we can start with our strongest team in the second round," said the veteran goalkeeper.
"Therefore it might be wise to take no risks, but it is the coach's decision.
"You cannot start against Argentina with a plan about what result you want to have, we are not capable of doing that."
