Zemmama impresses Hughes

Hibernian manager John Hughes is hopeful of having Merouane Zemmama back in action in the near future after a groin problem.

The 26-year-old Morocco international missed the Edinburgh derby at the weekend and will sit out his country's World Cup qualifier against Cameroon this week.

Hughes told the Edinburgh Evening News: "Merouane should be okay, he was called up to the Morocco squad but he has stayed here with us for some rehab.

"We are hoping that he will be back doing some training with us towards the end of the week.

"He is quite a conscientious wee guy and he's always looking after his fitness and his diet. We know that he will do his rehab properly, he always gets his work done.

"To be honest, the rest will probably have done him the world of good as well, because he's worked hard from the start of the season, in training and out on the pitch."
