Wotherspoon extends Hibernian stay

The 19-year-old has made the successful transition from Hibs' all-conquering under-19 side this season, scoring on his debut against St Mirren on the opening day of the SPL campaign.[LNB]He has been a mainstay of the side under manager John Hughes, mostly featuring at right-back despite midfield being his preferred position.[LNB]His performances saw him rewarded with a Scotland Under-21 debut in Azerbaijan last month.[LNB]Wotherspoon told the club's official website, www.hibernianfc.co.uk: "I am delighted to commit myself for the next three and a half years to Hibernian.[LNB]"The club has given me a great opportunity and I love it here.[LNB]"The gaffer has a real vision of where he wants to go and I aim to be part of it.[LNB]"It's an exciting club to be at just now, so I'll just keep working as hard as I can to keep playing first-team football."[LNB]Hughes added: "This is brilliant news for the club and I am personally delighted for David.[LNB]"Although he has just broken into the first team this season, he has been one of our most consistent performers.[LNB]"This contract extension is just reward for the progress he has made and his attitude to hard work - he really is a model professional who has all the attributes to go far in the game.[LNB]"This club provides a fantastic environment to develop young professionals, and it's great to see players like David coming through to ensure that we continue to build a squad to compete at the highest level."[LNB][LNB][LNB]
